Tiny Tots Rules and Regulations
- The Tiny Tot Programs are structured, social, recreation
programs for 3 and 4 year olds sponsored by the Baltimore County Department of
Parks and Recreation and Perry Hall Recreation Council. Although our
programs are held in the recreation room of the public schools, we are not
affiliated with, sponsored by, or under the direction of the schools or the
Board of Education.
- The school year runs mid Sept through mid May. The Program takes a
2-3 week break at Christmas.
- Our programs are parent co-ops. A parent or other responsible adult
is required to assist the leader on assigned days throughout the
year or about once every 3 weeks.
- Baltimore County Department of Parks and Recreation do not provide
background checks on volunteers.
- If you are unable to work your assigned day, it is your
responsibility, to find your own replacement. You may switch
days with another parent, pay a substitute (arranged by you) or send in a
replacement (relative, etc.) for your scheduled day. If you miss 2
of your assigned days and do not schedule a replacement, your child will be
removed from the program.
- Substitution fee is $10.00 and is expected to be paid promptly. We try to
provide a list of paid substitutes (parent volunteers) for each class,
although we cannot guarantee that one will always be available. If you
are a working parent, you are urged to have a relative or friend available to
work your assigned days.
- Child Care Administration (CCA) and the Program's guidelines require 2
adult volunteers and one director in the room at all times. Parents are
to stay with their children until both parent helpers have arrived to the
classroom. You are not allowed to leave your child until that time.
There can be no exceptions.
- Children must be picked up within 10 minutes of dismissal time. A
$5.00 fee will be imposed for any late pick-up beyond that time. We do
realize that there are extenuating circumstances at times, but this has becom
a more frequent problem over the years. Under new CCA guidelines, a
qualified teacher must be present until all children are picked up. Late
pick-ups interfere with the teacher's time to prepare for the next session.
- All children must be potty trained and be able to handle their own
toileting needs.
- All children must be able to understand and respond to verbal directions
from the leader.
- Because we are not a Board of Education program, our leaders do not have
the resources available to assist them in handling "exceptional" children.
Children exhibiting any of the following behaviors will be asked to withdraw
from the Program A PRO-RATED REFUND WILL ONLY BE GIVEN FOR THE
BELOW BEHAVIORS BY OCTOBER 31. NO REFUNDS AFTER THAT DATE.
- Failure to be potty trained.
- Inability to adapt to the structure of the program.
- Overly aggressive or constant disruptive behavior.
- Unwillingness to accept the leader's disciplinary procedures.
- When Baltimore County closes its schools, The Tot Programs are closed.
When Baltimore County opens late (1 or 2 hours), morning classes will be
cancelled. Afternoon classes will start at the regular time. If schools
close early, the afternoon session is cancelled.
- Baltimore County Department of Parks and Recreation and the CCA will
permit only registered children to be presend during the sessions (no
siblings).
